  • Welcome to my blog!

Hi, I'm Linsey Stuckey. And it’s no secret that I love taking pictures. I went from being an attorney to a stay-at-home mom to a natural light photographer. I love looking at the world through the lens of my camera and capturing moments that most people might otherwise miss.

And yes, it's true! We had our third child in November, a baby girl. She's utterly adorable. And while I love my clients, because our kiddos are so little right now, I'm going to take a few years off to spend more time with my family. It was a hard decision to make, but it's worth it. Your kids are only little once. I say cherish each and every moment.

Of course I'll still be blogging and shooting (What can I say?! Pictures make me happy), so I hope you'll stick around. I also have a few exciting things in the works, one of which should be finished this January. So excited about that!!!

    Happy 2012!!!

52 on Friday (5) On the Shelf

This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is On the Shelf.  My kids love HEB and grabbing things off the shelves. Next to Disneyland, our local HEB market may be the happiest place on earth.   And it’s easy to see why.  They are greeted at the door with a shiny red balloon (although not yesterday due to a helium storage).  The shopping carts are in the shapes of little cars.  It’s as if the kids have their own designated race course through the aisles.  There’s food samples all throughout the store (orange juice, soup, pizza, sushi, tortillas, cookies, ham, crackers, soda, skillet meals, etc.)  My kids literally eat lunch here.  And they each get to pick one treat to take home.  Hayley was so excited when she found her “Dora cereal” that she did a little happy dance right in the aisle.  Check-out is the best part because each kid receives two “Buddy Bucks,” which means two spins at the wheel and a chance to win the ever-coveted sticker!  Yes, my son likes to display his proudly!

52 on Friday (4) Handmade

This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is Handmade.  And thank goodness for Fifty-Two on Friday projects for getting my rear in gear and completing a handmade project I started over two years ago.  Yep, two years ago (just before I got into photography) I started making matching aprons for my daughter and me.  Well . . . photography soon took over my life and I never finished those aprons.  Two years passed.  Two years!  Yep, I’m embarrassed to admit it.  But now those aprons are done and done!!!

52 on Friday (3) Refreshing

This week’s 52 on Friday theme is Refreshing.  And even in January here in Texas it can get pretty warm outside.  So when I asked the kids who wanted to make some lemonade all hands went up, “Me!  Me!  I want to make some lemonade!”  Here’s to a refreshing glass of lemonade!

52 on Friday (2) Newness

This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is Newness.  Yes, we certainly have a little bit of newness in our home right now, a brand new baby girl.  I had her just barely two months old.  While most people call her Sydney, to us she goes by “Itty Bitty Cocoa Puff,” “Littlest Baby,” “Little Miss Squeaky,” “Sydney Baby,” and “Bitsy.”  Yes, Sydney is still very Itsy Bitsy.  She has an older sister who simply adores her and could stare at her all day long.  Frankly, I could too.  I look into her eyes and just melt.  I hold her and never want to let her go.  And she’s not just new to us, but we’re also new to her.  I wonder what goes through that little mind of hers as she looks out onto the world trying to piece together the puzzle and figuring out where she fits in.  Right now she knows we love her, she knows that for sure.

P.S. I really wanted to get my two year little boy in these pictures, but he was being a little stinker.  So this time, Hayley had her new baby sister all to herself.

52 on Friday (1) You

I am so excited for 2012 and a journey that I am embarking on with 19 other photographers!!  It’s a 52 week project whereby each week we’re given a new theme to photograph, which forces us to stretch our creativity and keep us actively engaging our love for photography!  The themes for this year are pretty challenging.

And the fun part is seeing what everyone else has come up with.  Each week under my post will be a link to another photographer, and she will link to another photographer, and it’ll keep going until it brings you full circle back here!  I engaged in a similar project last year and LOVED it.  I just need to think of bigger and better bribes for the kiddos because they literally run from the camera!

We have some amazingly talented ladies in this group and I’m thrilled to be included.  This first week’s assignment is You(as in a self portrait).  As much as I love taking pictures, that love doesn’t extend to taking pictures of myself.:o) But, I tried to have a little fun anyway.  Here’s to 2012 and this amazing 52 week journey!

Next up in the circle is Gretchen Ceranic: http://www.thislittlelifephotography.com/blog/.  Stop over and give her some love!
