This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is Pastel. And to go along with this week’s theme I have a BRAND NEW BLOGSITE!!!! I’m so excited! I decided to do away with Jack and Jane Photography in favor of My Little Chicks. Since I’m no longer shooting professionally I thought, why am I still blogging under Jack and Jane Photography. It’s time for a change. So I got together with Jeanine Linder (she’s amazing) and over the past year (yes I am slow and so indecisive) we’ve been working on a logo and a blogsite. I love it! 52 on Friday (11) Green with Envy

This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is Green with Envy. And what started out as an attempt to photograph my son in his favorite GREEN “dinosaur play guitar” jammies (I seriously have to wash them every night because these are the only ones he’ll wear) turned into something quite different. As soon as I picked up the camera my son ran out of the room and grabbed the box of Southern Maid donuts and started chomping away. Since the donut box was GREEN, I kind of went with it. But that little stinker ate THREE donuts and would not share even one bite with me. So guess who ended up being “Green with Envy” . . . ?

52 on Friday (10) Memories

This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is Memories. And I thought to myself, when I look back on “today” what is it that I would want to remember? What memories do I want to hold on to? There’s a few groups circling around that do a “10 on 10″ project where they take a photo an hour (10 total) capturing a single day. I love this idea! So, I thought I’d give it a go. Here’s to a typical Wednesday:

1. Just waking up to find our oldest girl downstairs in the playroom just her and her puppy dog. She actually got a little upset when I snapped this picture because I think I startled her.

2. Midmorning. Our “littlest baby” all wide-eyed just sitting on my lap.

3. Lifetime Fitness. An hour and a half all to myself, I’ll take it!

4. On the way to dance class. Such a “bigsie.”

5. Orange Leaf Yogurt. Hayley goes to dance, Colin and I grab yogurt and play trains.

6. Lunch at Panera Bread. Silly girls!

7. Mid-afternoon. Watching the neighbors dig a pool. Love that Hayley found herself a chair.

8. Oh how I wish I had a sister!

9. Gymnastics. My brave little boy!

10. Bath time . . . is the best time.

P.S. As you’ll notice, I edited each of these photos a little differently this week. I just wanted to change things up a bit.

This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is alone. And honestly, with two older siblings constantly vying for her attention and smothering her with kisses, our littlest chick rarely gets any alone time . . . except for Tuesdays and Thursdays when Hayley and Colin are at preschool. Then I have Sydney all to myself. I love our alone time just the two of us. I talk and she listens. And then she talks and I listen. And sometimes I put her down to play. While she still prefers being cuddled up next to me, she’s enjoying this alone time with her animal friends more and more.

52 on Friday (8) Pretend

This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is Pretend. Having three kiddos, this is a theme I know all too well. With my oldest daughter being 4 1/2 and my son having just turned 3, I think they live in the “pretend” world almost as much as they live in the “real” world. Whether it’s rocketing into outer space, riding a choo-choo train, opening up restaurants, building castles, or chasing monsters, all they want to do is pretend. And they especially love pretending in their play kitchen. They’ll whip up all sorts of soups, salads, and desserts. This time Hayley wanted Colin to make brownies and her and her dog Golden. And Colin was all to eager to make them! He put on his little chef’s hat and oven mitts and went to work. And those were some mighty good brownies, and calorie free too!

52 on Friday (7) Love

With Valentine’s Day still in the air, it’s only fitting that this week’s Fifty-two on Friday theme be Love! And what do my husband and I love more than anything in the entire world?! Our three little kiddos. They’re my whole world. It’s amazing to me how much my heart continues to expand with each and every child. Just when I think it isn’t possible to love them any more, the next day my love for them grows. I love their little faces and their little expressions. They are so silly, so happy, and just love being alive!!! Fill the room with a dozen or so balloons and stick them in their matching Valentine’s jammies, and they couldn’t be happier. Even our littlest is starting to smile and giggle. Love. Love. Love.

52 on Friday (6) Letting Go of Perfect

This week’s Fifty-two on Friday theme is Letting Go of Perfect! And really, thank goodness for projects like this that just let me break free of my “everything’s gotta look perfect” mentally and capture my kids just how they are, nuttiness, messy faces, and all. I don’t have enough pictures of just them being them.

My daughter, as cute as she looks all dollied up in dresses, sometimes goes for a style all her own. Just last week she came prancing down the stairs in none other than a bright green sweater, pink sweat pants, purple Uggs, and a gigantic red headband from her Snow White costume. And the words out of her mouth?! ”Look at me Mommy! Aren’t I pretty?!” Yes Sweet Pea, you are very pretty! Most beautiful! And I grabbed my camera. But what I never suspected was that these photographs would be some of my all time favorite pictures of my daughter. They’re completely her, nothing styled, nothing planned, just her.

1. Love those purple Uggs. Can you tell they are on the wrong feet?!

2. Love that she always wants to go out wearing her ginormous Snow White red bow on top her head.

3. Love that she has her own little mismatched style and is so confident.

4. Love that when she wears sweaters she insists on having just one button buttoned.

5. Love the little saunter in her walk.

6. Love that she tried to cut her own bangs three weeks ago (okay, maybe I didn’t love that ).

And my little boy is just as nutty. If he could have it his way, he’d run around all day without a shirt on, covered in food . . . in this case, chocolate pudding. Yep, I had to let go out perfect here too! But, these too are some of my favorite pictures of him. It’s just my little boy being a boy, chocolate face and all! I love them both to pieces!

52 on Friday (5) On the Shelf

This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is On the Shelf. My kids love HEB and grabbing things off the shelves. Next to Disneyland, our local HEB market may be the happiest place on earth. And it’s easy to see why. They are greeted at the door with a shiny red balloon (although not yesterday due to a helium storage). The shopping carts are in the shapes of little cars. It’s as if the kids have their own designated race course through the aisles. There’s food samples all throughout the store (orange juice, soup, pizza, sushi, tortillas, cookies, ham, crackers, soda, skillet meals, etc.) My kids literally eat lunch here. And they each get to pick one treat to take home. Hayley was so excited when she found her “Dora cereal” that she did a little happy dance right in the aisle. Check-out is the best part because each kid receives two “Buddy Bucks,” which means two spins at the wheel and a chance to win the ever-coveted sticker! Yes, my son likes to display his proudly!

52 on Friday (4) Handmade

This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is Handmade. And thank goodness for Fifty-Two on Friday projects for getting my rear in gear and completing a handmade project I started over two years ago. Yep, two years ago (just before I got into photography) I started making matching aprons for my daughter and me. Well . . . photography soon took over my life and I never finished those aprons. Two years passed. Two years! Yep, I’m embarrassed to admit it. But now those aprons are done and done!!!

This week’s 52 on Friday theme is Refreshing. And even in January here in Texas it can get pretty warm outside. So when I asked the kids who wanted to make some lemonade all hands went up, “Me! Me! I want to make some lemonade!” Here’s to a refreshing glass of lemonade!
