This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is treasure. When I think of the word treasure, I think of my family and then I think . . . again of my family. My husband and my two little kiddos are my whole world. They are truly the greatest treasures I possess. My life is rich and full because of them. And our perspective on life has certainly been changed since our two little kids entered it. It seems our two kiddos are always on a search for treasure. The whole world to them is one gigantic treasure box waiting to be opened and discovered. I’ve never met something more inquisitive than that of a little child. Everything is exciting, everything is full of wonder and amazement.
When we were on a walk this morning, my daughter picked up a teeny tiny piece of plastic (it couldn’t have been bigger than a piece of Trident gum): “Look Mommy, treasure! Will you put this in your purse for me?” So I did. Along our walk we collected twigs, rocks, leaves, and other sediment (all “treasure” in her eyes). How do we humans become so jaded? If only we could see again through the eyes of a child. ”For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” Matthew 6: 21
