  • Welcome to my blog!

Hi, I'm Linsey Stuckey. And it’s no secret that I love taking pictures. I went from being an attorney to a stay-at-home mom to a natural light photographer. I love looking at the world through the lens of my camera and capturing moments that most people might otherwise miss.

And yes, it's true! We had our third child in November, a baby girl. She's utterly adorable. And while I love my clients, because our kiddos are so little right now, I'm going to take a few years off to spend more time with my family. It was a hard decision to make, but it's worth it. Your kids are only little once. I say cherish each and every moment.

Of course I'll still be blogging and shooting (What can I say?! Pictures make me happy), so I hope you'll stick around. I also have a few exciting things in the works, one of which should be finished this January. So excited about that!!!

    Happy 2012!!!

Our Silly Elves

If you’ve been following this blog at all you’ll know that our house was recently invaded by two very silly and quite mischievous little elves, Puppy and Snowflake.  Yes, my little two year old named his elf Puppy.  The elves appeared at our breakfast table the morning of December 1st (see HERE) with a note saying that the Elves had come down from the North Pole and were to report back to Santa whether our kids had been naughty or nice.  Seems simple enough.  We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into.

Aside from their specific errand from Santa, these elves had a wee too much fun during the night while the rest of us were nestled all snug in our beds.  Each morning our kids were spring from their beds (sometimes even before the sun was up) and race around the house searching for the elves.  And what a surprise we would fine!  Thankfully the elves are now safely back at the North Pole with Santa.  Of course we took pictures to send to Santa.  Here’s some more mischief they got into . . .

52 on Friday (50) Remember & Reflect

The last and final Fifty-Two on Friday theme for 2011 is Remember & Reflect.  And I must admit one of the best things I did this year was the Fifty-Two on Friday project.  It was so challenging at times (uncooperative weather, fussy kids, vacations, family in town, morning sickness, having a baby, etc.), but looking back on it all it was oh so worth it.  I think of all the fun things I did with my kiddos that I may not have otherwise captured were it not for this project.  I made a commitment to post each and every week and I pulled it off!!!  Whoa hoa!

And in terms of what I’d change for next year . . . it would definitely be to spend more time with my family, namely my husband and our three kiddos.  I made the decision midway through this past year to stop shooting professionally and it was the best decision I could have made.  I soon realized that all my free time was spent behind the computer editing photos of other people’s kids rather than photographing and spending time with my own.  It was hard to give up the extra income and I know this isn’t the right decision for everybody, but it was the right decision for me.  And even though my kids still run from the camera, I think they might be coming around.:) Here’s to some of my favorite Fifty-Two on Friday memories of 2011!

52 on Friday (49) Christmas

This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is Christmas!  Yes, this is indeed the best time of year.  I love the joy that fills the air, the remembrance of our Savior, the decorations hung all about, the warmth from our fireplace. all the fun Christmas music and movies, and of course . . . our magical elves.  Yes, they’ve been getting into A LOT of mischief lately.  This morning we caught them having s’mores by the fireplace.  This gave our kids an idea . . . let’s make s’mores too.  So tonight we all got into our Christmas jammies, laid out a ton of blankets and pillows, and made s’mores by the fireplace while watching the classic claymation cartoon Santa Claus is Coming to Town.  Christmastime is here.

52 on Friday (48) Accomplishment

This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is Accomplishment.  Just five weeks ago I gave birth to a beautiful little girl.  We named her Sydney Kate Stuckey.  Nine months in the making, she is undoubtedly my greatest accomplishment this year!  I look into her little eyes each day and think, “Wow, did I really make you?”  ”Did you really come from me?”  ”How is this even possible?”  Even after three kids, the whole idea of a few tiny teeny cells coming together and then growing and developing into a baby – all inside my tummy – is still completely mind-blowing.  We love her so much!

P.S. There’s also something else I’ve been working on this year that I finally finished.  Yes for me (as scatterbrained as I tend to be), this was a huge accomplishment.  Scroll down to see what it is.

P.P.S.  And be sure to continue the circle to see what Lucy Jane, from Adelaide, Australia has accomplished this year: http://www.lucyjanephoto.com.au/blog.  Her work is always beautiful!!

Playroom is Finished!

It’s been almost a year in the making – from painting the walls to ordering the custom sofa, finding the perfect fabric, sewing the pillow covers, making the window treatment, finding a cute little white table, making the lamp shade, finding and putting together the wall decal and canvases, waiting on our summer family pictures, and then designing and custom ordering all the frames for the photos – but our Playroom is finally finished.  Whew!

Yes, a lot went into this playroom.  But, I LOVE it!!!!  It’s whimsical, fun, playful!  It’s perfect!  It’s a room that I love being in to play with the kiddos. They love it too!  And the closet hides most all their toys, which is great!  Plus, we didn’t completely get rid of guest room.  The yellow couch actually folds out to a fairly comfortable queen sized bed.  Plus, now our guests have a room full of toys to keep them occupied (oh and a Mac computer).  So, here it is!!!!!
