Fifty-Two on Friday (25) Freedom

This week’s Fifty-Two on Friday theme is Freedom.  And I get somewhat sentimental around the Fourth of July.  I love this country.  I love what it stands for and I appreciate every day the freedoms we have.  We can worship freely, women can drive cars and vote, we have the right to bear arms, we have the freedom of speech, we have the freedom to assemble, we have the opportunity to choose our elected leaders, we have the right to choose our own doctors, the list goes on and on.  I feel so fortunate to able to raise my kids in a nation where freedom rings!

One of my favorite things to do on the Fourth of July is to watch the fireworks . . . BUT not this year.  It’s been so dry in Houston the past three months that all types of fireworks were completely banned this year!  Yep, it was a pretty quiet evening.  So, rather than showing off those Texas sized fireworks, I decided to post my two kiddos enjoying a little FREEDOM of their own.  I decided to let them, not me, decorate our Fourth of July cupcakes this year.  And, in light of this week’s theme, they had complete freedom to whatever they wanted to those cupcakes and to get as messy as they liked!  And, yes, they got pretty darn messy!  Happy Fourth of July!
